ABOUT

The Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine since acquiring it through the Ruth Lilly bequest in 2003 (the magazine itself dates to 1912, founded by Harriet Monroe), runs "Poem of the Day" as one of its core email newsletters. It's a daily dispatch pulling from both the magazine's back catalog and the much larger open poem archive on PoetryFoundation.org, with selections tied loosely to historic events, poet birthdays and anniversaries, and thematic occasions. It functions as a low-friction on-ramp to the Foundation's archive rather than a venue for original curation or criticism — the poems are reprints, not new commissions.
