sub club is the submissions newsletter from the Chill Subs team (Karina Kupp and collaborators), begun in 2022: a weekly digest of open calls, deadlines, themed issues, fee-free windows, and lit-mag gossip, written in a deliberately unstuffy voice. A paid tier adds curated opportunity roundups.

It matters because it demonstrated that submission intelligence — who is open, who pays, who is worth it — is a product writers will subscribe to on its own. It is the closest existing thing to the Almanac's weekly changelog concept, and the benchmark to beat on freshness and coverage.
