The only daily series featuring previously unpublished poems, curated by a rotating guest editor. Free by email; also a podcast.

Website

Poem-a-Day, launched by the Academy of American Poets in 2006, is the only major daily series built on previously unpublished work: some 260 new poems a year, with weekdays curated by a rotating guest editor (a different acclaimed poet each month or quarter) and weekends drawn from the public domain. Guest editors have included Natasha Trethewey, Jericho Brown, and Ada Limón.

It reaches hundreds of thousands of subscribers by email, plus podcast and syndication audiences, making it arguably the single largest distribution channel for a new poem in English. Poets are commissioned rather than drawn from an open slush; for readers it is the lowest-friction daily habit in the field.
