ABOUT

Wesleyan University Press, founded in 1957 in Middletown, Connecticut, built its literary reputation chiefly through the Wesleyan Poetry Series, which since its early decades has published John Ashbery, Adrienne Rich, James Dickey, Robert Bly, and Louise Glück's first book, among many others who went on to define postwar American poetry. The press has continued that lineage into the present, releasing new collections from Lyn Hejinian, Pierre Joris, Heather Christle, Kim Hyesoon (in translation), and Camille T. Dungy, while also maintaining an active scholarly and archival program—recent titles include the collected letters and lectures of Jack Spicer. Beyond poetry, Wesleyan publishes in ethnomusicology, dance, film, and American studies, but poetry remains its most visible and prestigious line, sustained by decades of association with major American and international poets.
