ABOUT

Coffee House Press is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit literary publisher that traces its roots to Allan Kornblum's Toothpaste Press (Iowa City, 1972) and was reorganized under its current name in 1984 after relocating to Minneapolis. It has built a reputation as one of the more adventurous small presses in American letters, publishing poetry, innovative fiction, essay, and literary translation, with a strong track record of championing experimental and formally unconventional work. Its catalog regularly draws major recognition — recent titles have been longlisted for the Booker Prize, won the National Translation Award, and been finalists for the Lambda Literary Awards — and the press maintains a dedicated program bringing world literature (from Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, Asia, and Europe) into English.
