Sixth Finch launched in 2008 as an online poetry and art journal, quickly building a reputation for a spare, image-driven, slightly off-kilter aesthetic — work that favors compression, surreal juxtaposition, and a dry wit over confessional sprawl. The magazine expanded into print with an annual anthology collecting the year's online content, and it runs Sixth Finch Books, a small press that publishes poetry chapbooks, often selected through a periodic contest. Over more than a decade it has become one of the small but influential online-first journals that print-centric poets watch for emerging and idiosyncratic voices.
