Poets & Writers Classifieds

ABOUT

Poets & Writers Classifieds is the paid-advertising section that runs in the back pages of every print issue of Poets & Writers Magazine and is mirrored on pw.org. It has existed for decades as a catch-all bulletin board for the literary community: publishers and small presses soliciting book and anthology manuscripts, journals announcing open reading periods, contests posting prizes and deadlines, conferences and retreats recruiting attendees, and freelance editors and book coaches advertising manuscript-consultation services. Unlike the magazine's editorially vetted grants-and-awards database, the classifieds are commercial listings purchased by the advertiser, organized into tabs (Anthologies, Books, Magazines, Conferences, Contests, Jobs, Publications, Rentals/Retreats, Residencies, Services, Workshops) and refreshed with each bimonthly issue (the current one is July/August 2026). P&W includes a standing caveat-emptor notice warning readers that the magazine cannot verify advertiser claims and cautioning against fee-charging publishers, high-cost contests, and pay-to-publish schemes.
