NewPages
Long-running guide to literary magazines, presses, and calls for submissions.
NewPages has been the web's bulletin board for literary publishing since the late 1990s: directories of magazines, small presses, writing programs, and bookstores, plus weekly roundups of calls for submissions and contest deadlines. Before social media, a NewPages listing was how new journals announced they existed; for many readers it still is.
Its editorial model is old-web in the best sense — human-maintained lists, plain HTML, no algorithm — and in the worst: discovery is browse-only, data fields are thin, and freshness depends on publishers writing in. It remains an indispensable primary lead source for anyone mapping the field.
