Gulf Coast
ABOUT
Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts was founded in 1986 and is edited out of the University of Houston's creative writing program, with editorial staff rotating through the MFA program's students and faculty. It has built a reputation as one of the more internationally minded American literary journals, running substantial sections of literary translation alongside poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art in each issue, and pairing its print issues with an active online-exclusives track that runs interviews, reviews, and additional creative work between print cycles. The magazine also administers the Donald Hall Prize for Poetry and the Barthelme Prize for Short Prose, both of which have become notable early-career credits for poets and prose writers.
