ABOUT

Denver Quarterly was founded in 1966 by novelist John Williams and has been published continuously by the University of Denver's Department of English & Literary Arts since. It has built a reputation for experimental and cross-genre work, publishing poetry, prose, criticism, translation, and hybrid forms, with pieces recurring in the Pushcart Prize anthology, the PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories, Best American Short Stories, and Best American Poetry. The journal explicitly states an interest in writers from marginalized communities and identities, non-professional writers, and those with differing abilities, positioning itself as more porous than the standard academic quarterly. It also runs a digital companion publication, F I V E S, for interdisciplinary and cross-genre work that doesn't fit the print format.
