Vermont Studio Center
ABOUT
Vermont Studio Center was founded by a cooperative of artists in 1984 in Johnson, Vermont, and has grown into one of the largest international artist and writer residency programs in the country. Housed in a cluster of restored mill buildings and historic structures along the Gihon River, VSC runs year-round residencies that mix working studio time with visiting-artist programming: craft talks, public readings, and studio visits led by writers and artists invited in for short stays. Its writing program has hosted a long roster of visiting poets and prose writers over four decades, and it is known in the poetry world less for launching careers through publication than for giving poets sustained, distraction-free studio time alongside a rotating international cohort.
